In 2018 the Village of Skokie made the Skokie Community Foundation the beneficiary of its generous employee donation program donating over $17,000, to support the Foundation’s work to improve lives of the residents of Skokie.
In fall 2018, Village employees from all departments donated more than $17,000 to the Skokie Community Fund that provides grants to Skokie nonprofit organizations that collaborate to provide support services to Skokie residents.
Since being established in 2010, the Skokie Community Fund has supported organizations that provide a variety of support programs, including offering high quality childcare for children of single parents who are participating in job-readiness training, and counseling seniors on consumer benefits.
The Skokie Community Fund’s 2018 grants provide funding to a number of partnerships, including:
- Metropolitan Family Services and the Skokie Coalition to End Abuse and Neglect of Adults with Disabilities to continue a program focused on preventing and fostering increased reporting of abuse and neglect of adults with disabilities.
- Village of Skokie Humane Services and YMCA Evanston North Shore to connect young men ages 12 to 18 to the Skokie Police Department and Youth Outreach Program for intervention and support.
- Turning Point Behavioral Health Care Center and Community Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.) to provide interactive and educational programs for Turning point clients while providing C.A.R.E. with a new source of volunteer assistance.
