In 2021, SCF awarded a $10,000 grant to Skokie-Morton Grove School District 69’s (D69) Community Schools Department to launch a pilot health care project to help ensure students come to school healthy and ready to learn. A total of 44 uninsured or underinsured youth gained access to cost-free dental, vision, and mental health vouchers, as well as the costs of family transportation to and from appointments.
The program proved so successful, both in terms of demonstrated need and the strong partnerships D69 forged with healthcare providers, that the district applied for and received a $375,000 Congressionally Funded Community Project grant to continue and expand the program’s impact.
SCF is proud to have provided the initial funding to pilot this successful program that serves the needs of children in our community. Click here to learn more about our grant impact on this project and more.
