Skokie Community Foundation Welcomes George Van Dusen To The Board Of Directors

We’d like to welcome George Van Dusen to our Board of Directors! Another exciting addition to our team of dedicated volunteers.

George and his wife, Susan, have lived in Skokie for 50 years and have participated in numerous community events and organizations.They have deep roots in Skokie. Their two sons and grandchildren have graduated from or are presently attending Skokie schools.

George worked for a US congressman for 26 years and subsequently served as Mayor of the Village for 26 years. He recently retired and is pursuing writing fiction.

We look forward to George lending his experience and love of our village to Skokie Community Foundation.

2026 Skokie Healthcare Symposium Recap! "Vaccinat 2026 Skokie Healthcare Symposium Recap!

"Vaccinations in 2026: What’s the Sticking Point?” was the topic of the 2026 Skokie Healthcare Symposium, convened by Skokie Community Foundation in close partnership with the @villageofskokie Department of Health & Human Services. The March 11 afternoon session provided data on the alarming decrease in vaccination rates in our community and included featured several speakers addressing how we can encourage more residents to receive necessary vaccinations for communicable diseases.

Keynote speakers Dr. Jennifer Seo, Pediatric Medicine Medical Advisor for the @illinoisdph, and Dr. Edward Linn, Skokie Board of Health Chair and IDPH Immunization Advisory Committee appointee, updated attendees on the need to increase vaccination rates in our community.

Julia Shklovskaya, MPAA, Community Outreach and Engagement Manager for sanofi_us, spoke about the importance of including diverse and underserved people in clinical trial testing for new vaccines. Sanofi sponsored the 2026 Skokie Healthcare Symposium.

The first program of its kind in North Suburban Co The first program of its kind in North Suburban Cook County, Skokie Community Foundation is proud to be one of several community partners collaborating to bring Dolly Parton's @imaginationlibrary program to Niles Township.

Skokie Community Foundation secured the initial funding to bring the program to fruition via a $30,000 grant from the Madge Goldman Foundation.
