George and his wife, Susan, have lived in Skokie for 50 years and have participated in numerous community events and organizations. They have deep roots in Skokie. Their two sons and grandchildren have graduated from or are presently attending Skokie schools.

George worked for a US congressman for 26 years and subsequently served as Mayor of the Village for 26 years. He recently retired and is pursuing writing fiction.

We look forward to George lending his experience and love of our village to Skokie Community Foundation.

💕 Coffee for a Cause! 💕 Thank you to Lisa Kaplan 💕 Coffee for a Cause! 💕

Thank you to Lisa Kaplan with @cityofhopechi for inviting Skokie Community Foundation to the Giving Tuesday Coffee for a Cause on Dec. 2. We love seeing the community get together to support local causes - not just SCF, but ALL of the worthy causes in our region.

Our Executive Director Jim Szczepaniak enjoyed chatting with attendees about SCF and meeting with other area nonprofit leaders, such as Samina Hussein and Lisa Hanley from @educationfoundation219
6 Ways YOU Can Join Team Skokie! Do you share our 6 Ways YOU Can Join Team Skokie!

Do you share our mission to foster a supportive, engaged and dynamic community in Skokie through meaningful giving, collaboration and community programming? If so, you can take advantage of many ways to make a lasting impact in our local community.

1. Support Skokie immediately with a one-time gift: Make a one-time donation to SCF to help support our grants program. We accept cash, check, credit or debit card, PayPal Giving Fund or Venmo. You can also make a gift via your Donor Advised Fund (DAF). Give now at our link in bio.

2. Create lasting impact with a monthly recurring gift: Consistent support helps us plan ahead and respond to emerging needs in our community. Go to our link in bio, click "Give Now", and scroll to “Make A Recurring Monthly Donation” for more info.

3. Make a gift with an IRA Charitable Rollover. If you are 70½ years old or older, you may make a gift in any amount up to $100,000 per year from your IRA directly to SCF without having to pay income taxes. This gift can also count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) if you’re 73 or older.

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your RMD is especially advantageous as it does not generate taxable income nor a tax deduction, all while making a significant difference in your community. If you have any questions, please email jims@skokiecommunityfoundation.org.

4. Make a gift of cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, or other assets directly. Gifting these assets directly can give you more favorable tax outcomes. We recommend you check with your tax advisor to see how you can best take advantage of this.

5. Make us a full or partial beneficiary of your life insurance policy or retirement account. This is an easy way to make a legacy gift without modifying your will.

6. If you have named or would like to name Skokie Community Foundation as a beneficiary of your will, trust, IRA, retirement plan, life insurance, commercial annuity, or other entity, please email us at jims@skokiecommunityfoundation.org so we may honor you in the SCF Legacy Society. You can create a legacy that helps the Skokie community thrive far into the future.
