Skokie Community Foundation was recently named one of the 5 Skokie Nonprofits To Support This Holiday Season by Patch!

All four of the other nonprofits mentioned have been past recipients of Skokie Community Foundation grants:

  • CJE Senior Life – received a grant in 2015 where they partnered with Skokie Public Library and Village of Skokie Human Services to create a Consumer Assistance Benefits Counseling Program. The project assisted older adults in determining optimal health insurance plans and accessing government benefits both in English and Russian.
  • Orchard Village – has received several SCF grants over the years. One project was created in 2017, an urban farming initiative which provided education for Orchard Village residents from staff at the Talking Farm while providing a steady and significant volume of fresh, organically grown produce to the Niles Township Food Pantry.
  • Turning Point Behavioral Health Care Center – has also received several SCF grants. One project, created in 2024 as a partnership with National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Cook County North Suburban, was a new and inclusive support group for adults who identify as members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
  • Shore Community Services – will be receiving an SCF grant in 2025 to partner with the Institute for Therapy through the Arts on a brand new project to provide music therapy for Skokie residents with intellectual or other developmental disabilities.
